Australian bass fishing charters

The iconic Australian bass is, at times, a very aggressive species that responds to a variety of lures! The Mid North Coast is home to some of the best, scenic wild bass fishing in Australia.
On Castaway, we target Aussie bass from September to May. During the warmer months surface lures are one of the better lure options offering anglers exciting and visual bites. Cicada imitation lures are highly effective during summer months, and bass can find these lures almost irresistible.
Over the course of the day, we will often use deeper diving hardbody lures, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and soft plastics. It's not uncommon to use 5-10 different lures in one session, which gives beginner lure anglers good insight into lure selection and techniques. Many of which can be applied to other species, too.
We focus on the tidal reaches or brackish sections of the Maria River (15 minutes from Port Macquarie) and Macleay River (40 minutes from Port Macquarie) which often sees the occasional bycatch of bream and flathead.
