New Year starts with a Surface Bang!
Hi Fisho's, all the best for the new year lets hope it is a good one for you all with plenty of fishing memories to gather. The new year is like a fresh start where we can maybe give ourselves a few goals we want to achieve in our fishing, maybe you would like to catch a certain species, use a certain technique, concentrate on a form of fishing, who knows? every ones goals are different the good thing about our sport is the amount of opportunities to try different things. The list is endless, i have a few myself this year which i hope to accomplish.
Since Christmas our main target species and form of fishing has been chasing bream using surface lures and it has been an exceptional season with some crazy numbers of fish coming to the net. Cicada numbers are definitely at their highest for quite a few seasons making the bream on certain days impossible not to catch! Bass season continues to be outstanding Castaway has now put a dozen over 50 cm fish on board and released. I seriously would love to know how many more could of been landed if we fished more often for them? again one of the best seasons in a while with still plenty of time to go in this current season.
Flathead and Jewfish have taken a back seat of recent time due to the surface action but a still a very viable option for anyone wanting to target these species.
I would like to thank all the Parents who have brought their children on board over the Christmas/ new year period it has been very satisfying watching them get into lure fishing, children that could not cast when coming on board then in a few hours seeing them placing their lures next to tight structure and catching fish, well that's rewarding.
Whats in store? the next few weeks we return to the Bass with bookings coming in solidly for these great fish, also a few Jewfish trips are in the diary and Castaway has some more great new lures to throw at them. We are certainly excited for February to come around as a week long Cod adventure has been booked so if the weather gods be kind it is going to be another exciting year on Castaway! catch ya's on the water
